·       A paragraph about open educational resources (OER): From what I have read, open educational resources are materials that you can find on the internet and use in your classroom for free without having to deal with copyright and creative commons licensing. This includes a variety of resources such as lesson plans, homework assignments, assessments, and many more things that can be accessed on the OER commons website. The journal I found regarding this topic is called OER & Beyond (https://oerandbeyond.org) . This page doesn’t have a ton of OER resources in it, but it is a community where people can go and learn more about open educational resources and give/receive opinions on it. 


·       A paragraph on new skills you acquired from working on Assignment 4: I felt like I learned a lot from Assignment 4 considering it was my first time recording a slideshow like that and trying to save it in that format as well. Something I liked about this assignment was that I was able to speak as if I was talking to my kids and that made me excited to actually be able to interact with them one day. Something I didn’t like is that it seemed like there were a lot of requirements that needed to be met for a high pass but I still made it work so it’s okay. The next time I do this I would say I could improve by including speaker notes so that if this was a real life scenario and I for some reason wasn’t able to teach my lesson, the person teaching could handle it with ease and with few questions.

That one time was when I was writing a graduation speech and someone told me to have ChatGPT write one for me just to get some ideas and then I could edit it from there. It did end up working really well but I don’t think I have used it since then because I am always scared that if I use it for class I would get in trouble and I would rather just do the work myself. Blog Journal #2

-           My experience using MS Word as a kid before college was a pretty smooth experience. I never had any problems when doing assignments and if I did, my teachers would help me immediately. I have always found that word is easily accessible, it is right on my desktop when needed, the tools are easy to use, it’s easy to open new documents, etc.. To this day, as a college student, I prefer using Word over Google Docs and Pages. It is so much easier to keep track of my assignments through MS Word.  -         I personally really liked the article on ISTE Standards for Educators because I think all of the “titles” or descriptions that educators are given should be acknowledged and taught about every now and then so we are reminded of our influence on the students we are teaching. I personally think the one that is most meaningful to me is “Citizen”, because in order to create a society of “good people”, we are the ones that have to model that behavior considering students are around

Blog Journal #3

·        Copyright and fair use: o     As a teacher, I imagine dealing with copyright is tricky because you want to use others’ work but also have to give them the credit and not copy too much. I think something I would strive to do is have a lesson plan written out for every week including the curriculum I am required to teach, and then I will go on the internet and research a certain number of activities for that topic of the day/week. Although I might be lazy and want to copy some of the worksheets word for word and print those out, I will alter each of them to be different but with a similar concept to still get the point across. If I am teaching a grade where they have to use other author’s work, I will make sure to teach them how to cite/source properly when needed, but hopefully the children will be at an age where they have more creativity and use their brains to come up with any activities/answers to assignments that are given to them.
